11,000 Wallets Used to Launder Stolen Funds

The hacking of $ 1.4 billion in Bybit, one of the greatest exchanges of cryptocurrency, would be the work of the Lazare group, a collective of North Korean piracy with a history of large-scale cyberattacks. The hackers were responsible for piracy of $ 1.4 billion by Bybit, which aimed at the cold wallet signatories of Bybit and intercepted transfers, accessing massive fund amounts. They have since used more than 11,000 cryptocurrency portfolios to move and whiten stolen assets, complicating monitoring efforts
In response, the CEO of Bybit, Ben Zhou, took measures by declaring a “war” on the pirates and launching an initiative aimed at recovering the stolen funds. This included the introduction of a new tool for suspicious blacklist wallets and offering rewards to follow the stolen money.
The Elliptic blockchain analysis company has published a portfolio of free data flow lists related to North Korean pirates. This initiative helps the community to avoid sanctions and prevent money laundering from stolen assets.
“The addresses associated with the exploit of surveys were identified and available to detect within 30 minutes only depending on the ad, protecting customers without needing them to carry out repetitive manual checks,” said Elliptic.
Elliptic API Intelligence identified 11,084 cryptographic portfolio addresses linked to bybit hacking. The list should develop as surveys continue.
Zhou expressed his gratitude to the elliptical team for his help to provide real -time data on bybit’s hacking. On February 25, Bybit hired the Zeroshadow Web3 security company to investigate the blockchain and trace the stolen piracy funds from Bybit. The work of the company is to follow the funds and prevent other movements, aimed at recovering as much as possible.
Despite the violation, the appeal worked to maintain the stability of the platform, keeping open withdrawals and obtaining external liquidity thanks to loans. As of February 25, the exchange began to reimburse these loans, starting with a transfer of 40,000 ETH to Bidget.
