CZ Makes Rare Hong Kong Appearance: “I Don’t Trade Crypto Much”

The former CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, made a rare public appearance in Hong Kong on Sunday, revealing that he rarely exchanges cryptocurrency despite the foundation of the largest scholarships in the world.
The appearance was particularly remarkable because Zhao recently denied information that he would attend another crypto event in Hong Kong on April 8. His presence at the same time at BNB Super Meetup and the 9th MVB event generated significant attention in the cryptographic community.

Market concerns and investment advice
“The industry is not particularly healthy at the moment,” said Zhao during the BNB Super Meetup, criticizing an excessive concentration on the parts even. “We are paying too much attention to fast gains.”
In a surprising admission, Zhao said: “I don’t speculate much. I do not exchange much crypto. I did not buy pieces of memes. “
Zhao, worth around 66.6 billion dollars, suggested that several tens to “more than a hundred” cryptocurrencies could potentially surpass bitcoin in the long term, while emphasizing Bitcoin remains the most stable investment.
For newcomers, he recommended a disciplined approach “I strongly recommend young people to invest a small amount each month that you can afford to lose,” he advised, approving the average cost of a dollar. “There is no bad weather to enter the market, but the way you enter is very important.”
Past errors
Zhao recognized errors in Binance’s approach to Defi, admitting that he has not given appropriate attention to the BNB ecosystem while dealing with American legal issues.
“We did not focus enough on the BNB ecosystem. It was a big mistake.”
Asked about the future value of BNB, Zhao avoided specific predictions but stressed that the expansion of use cases would naturally increase its value.
Personal life
Zhao has revealed that many countries are now asking for his blockchain advice, including water, the United States, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan. “Now countries need us and we can support them,” he said.
In a separate interview with the founder of Tron Justin Sun, Zhao discussed his digital education project aimed at providing free content to children around the world. “With around $ 300 million, we could digitize 18 years of education on 30 matters,” he said.
Before the super meeting, Zhao appeared alongside the co-founder Ethereum Vitalik Buterin during the MVB 9th event of the BNB channel, where 16 projects were selected for an acceleration program.
Asked about his daily routine, Zhao said he was generally working on bed due to back problems and likes kitesurfing in his free time. “Most of my time has passed to work from the bed because my back is not great,” he shared.
He completed a four -month prison sentence in September 2024 after pleading guilty to the American federal charges related to money laundering. Binance paid $ 4.3 billion in fines, while Zhao has personally paid $ 50 million.
