My position on the long history of how Microsoft won Linux in China is clear: The best price is free from the customer side. Thus, when Microsoft Azure has integrated the Deepseek model, I noted that Microsoft essentially said to developers and users that Deepseek is technically anointed and at their disposal in the heart of America, without having to make himself digital to Beijing.
With this movement, Amazon quickly responded and integrated Deepseek. If Microsoft and Amazon adopt a model, this model is available for more than 80% of digital developers and manufacturers, which means that a change will occur. Ironically, Microsoft was funding Openai which is only open by name and requires payment. This means that Microsoft can go beyond words, if it distributes a largely free model when financing a paid model, because if the two models work on parity, no one will buy the Openai model.

Yes, if Microsoft does not do that, it can end like IBM who made tents with Linux and lost in oblivion. Thus, we can indirectly say that Optai is now open via Microsoft. Good people, expect more changes when Google soon joins the open model or free frame. But when you look deeply on the horizon, it seems that the OPENAI commercial model has faded because Microsoft can distribute largely free goodies in the context of their contracts!
Do not forget: what they do with the foundation model should not concern you too much. We have to focus on the LLM and Genai levels In Nigeria and Africa, as I noted here. While the foundation model becomes more and more open, no one can give an excuse about the reason why AI cannot transform itself, not only managing sectors and businesses in Africa.
