One of the main components of the urban renewal initiative is the improvement of public transport within the city. To achieve this, the government began to build ten modern shelters along boulevard Aguiyi Ironsi. These bus stops are intended to provide shelter to shuttle and provide more organized and effective public transport.

Kanu explained that the government recognizes the need to facilitate the circulation of people and goods, and these new abusive absences will help achieve this objective.

In order to decongest the city center and create a more structured commercial environment, the government has also announced the relocation of the ISIGGE market to Afara. The commissioner confirmed that the government had already acquired land for the new market and had paid the merchants affected by relocation.

He explained that the decision was necessary to reduce intensive traffic congestion which has long been associated with the current market location. The government believes that the movement of the market to a new site will not only improve town planning, but will also offer traders a more conducive and well -organized space to operate.

Another important initiative as part of the urban renewal program is the development of an intelligent city, known as the “New Umuahia” project. This project, which will extend on 2,000 hectares of land between the Umuahia and Ntigha tower, will cover 19 communities and showcase advanced infrastructure, residential areas, business districts and modern public equipment.

The Commissioner stressed that the intelligent city is part of the government’s long -term strategy to position Umuahia as an emerging economic center with world -class infrastructure. He expressed his confidence that the project would attract investments, create jobs and provide residents with better living conditions.

Beyond these newly announced projects, the government is actively working on critical improvements in infrastructure through the State. Kanu revealed that 28 major road projects are currently underway, entrepreneurs working to meet deadlines.

Some of the roads under construction include Okigwe Road, Obowu Road, holding Road and S1chool Road to Aba. He also noted that in addition to large -scale projects, the government has embarked on 35 repairs and direct improvements in the work road to ensure that urban roads remain the highway and in good condition.

As part of its commitment to improving road infrastructure, the government of the State has introduced “the zero nest-de-poule initiative”. As part of this program, the main roads such as Aba-Oower Road, George’s Street and Eziukwu Road have been repaired aimed at improving vehicle movements and reducing traffic congestion. The commissioner assured residents that road maintenance would remain a priority, because the government is determined to create a transparent transport network within the State.

In addition to the development of infrastructure, the government intensifies efforts to enforce traffic laws and maintain urban order. Kanu reiterated that motorists captured by driving against traffic would be continued, within the framework of the broader state initiative to instill discipline among road users and ensure a smooth flow of traffic. He stressed that the organizations responsible for the application of laws had been responsible for strictly applying these regulations to improve public security.

The commissioner also responded to growing concerns about the sale of counterfeit drugs and lower quality pharmaceuticals, describing them as a serious threat to public health. He reaffirmed the government’s determination to repress the production and distribution of false medicines and drinks, warning that security agencies had been mobilized to identify and continue the people involved in such illegal activities. He called on residents to report suspicious activities to the authorities, stressing that the government would not tolerate the actions that endanger the life of its citizens.

As part of the broader development strategy, the Commissioner urged residents to support urban renovation projects, noting that a successful implementation would depend on the cooperation of all stakeholders. He assured the residents of the state of Abia that the government remains determined to carry out projects that will modernize Umuahia and improve the standard of living. He added that these initiatives will considerably stimulate the state economy, will attract investors and create opportunities for businesses and residents.

With these vast urban renovation projects, the government of the state of Abia is preparing a way for more modern, structured and economically flourishing capital. The intelligent city planned, the improvement of public transport facilities, road repairs and the relocation of the market should reshape the Umuahia urban landscape, attract investments and improve the overall quality of life of residents.
