OpenAI announced Tuesday that President Adebayo Ogunlesi, founding partner of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), will join the board of directors of OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT. A year ago, BlackRock announced it was buying GIP for $12 billion and would make Mr. Ogunlesi BlackRock’s senior managing director.
BlackRock recently invested in OpenAI. OpenAI is building the “airports,” “railways,” “roads,” and vast infrastructure of the 21st century. Yes, the fundamental pillars of the AI (artificial intelligence) era. It makes sense that they would ask him to drive it for them since he is a legend in infrastructure construction.
