Anthropic Revokes OpenAI’s API Access Ahead of GPT-5 Launch

The growing competition on the LLM market generates tensions between companies. However, this cut -off decision occurred at a time when Sam Altman’s company had prepared for: GPT 5.
In the declaration, the spokesperson for Anthropic “Claude Code has become the choice of choice for coders around the world, and it was therefore not surprising to learn that Openai technical staff also used our coding tools before the launch of GPT-5.” Continuing his declaration, Christopher Nully concludes: “Unfortunately, this is a direct violation of our service conditions.”
Claude’s spokesperson directly mentioned that customers are not allowed to use the service to make a rival product or to train other competitive LLM models. According to reports, Openai used API Claude, instead of the ordinary cat interface. Consequently, they had the possibility of evaluating in sectors such as coding and creative writing, compared to their own GPT models.
In particular, Openai responded positively to all allegations, mentioning what they have done is necessary to improve the security of AI and do not go against industry standards. The spokesperson said: “It is the standard of the industry to assess other AI systems to compare progress and improve security. Although we respect Anthropic’s decision to cut our access to the API, it is disappointing since our API remains at their disposal. ”
