Deutsche Bank To Launch Crypto Custody Service In 2026
The largest German bank, Deutsche Bank, would have planned to authorize its customers to store cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin next year.
Deutsche Bank plans to launch a daycare service for digital assets in 2026 in collaboration with the Bitpanda Crypto Exchange technological unit based in Austria, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.
According to Bloomberg, the development of the Crypto custody service will also involve the Swiss technology provider supported by Deutsche, according to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the issue.
If he is confirmed, the latest plans for Deutsche Bank would mark the last attempt from the bank to enter the cryptography storage market, as he revealed such ambitions in 2020.
Intense involvement in crypto
Deutsche Bank has aroused growing interest in cryptocurrency in recent years
At the beginning of June, the chief of digital assets of Deutsche Bank, Sabih Behzad, said that the bank was planning to penetrate the Stablescoin market, in particular by issuing its own stablecoin or joining Stablecoin projects.
“We can certainly see the momentum of the stablecoins as well as a regulatory support environment, especially in the United States,” said Behzad, adding:
“Banks have a wide variety of options available to get involved in the Stablescoin – all, action industry as a reserve manager, until the publication of their own stablecoin, alone or in a consortium.”
In addition, Deutsche Bank would also assess the opportunity to develop its own tokenized deposit solution for use in payments.
Not the first effort to launch custody of cryptography
At the end of last year, the Deutsche Bank would have developed its own layer 2 (L2) blockchain on Ethereum using ZKSYNC technology.
In 2023, Deutsche Bank said it was planning to launch cryptography guard options in partnership with Taurus shortly after asking for a license to keep digital assets in Germany.

The Deutsche Bank has also worked with Bitpanda to improve cryptography payments to Crypto Exchange since at least June 2024.
Deutsche Bank did not immediately respond to a comment request when it was contacted by Cointtelegraph. Bitpanda refused to confirm or deny the report.
The news followed another large German bank, Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, who announced on Tuesday the intention of introducing cryptographic trading services to its 50 million customers.
