Greg Abbott Orders National Guard to Deploy in Texas as Protests Spread Across U.S. Cities

What started as large-scale demonstrations in Los Angeles, with people joining the raids led by immigration and customs application (ICE), has now spread to other cities in the United States

While the first protests were described as “peaceful”, the downtown Los Angeles was placed in a curfew on Tuesday due to vandalism and looting, people inside the area said to stay inside between 8 p.m. and 6 am, the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, said that the curfew “applies to everyone- Emergency staff and residents, workers and the credited media ”.
In addition to the 2,000 national guard troops deployed over the weekend, without request or approval from the Governor of California Gavin Newsom, President Donald Trump sent around 700 navies in active service to the demonstrations.
Trump’s response encouraged the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, to bring legal action against the administration for what he called “the gross surpassing of the authority of the federal government”. Hundreds of demonstrators also gathered in Austin on Monday. At least six men were arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety, according to San Antonio News.
