Ethereum Pectra Upgrade Delayed, Hoodi Testnet Extends

While the developers are expecting other test results from the Hoodi Testnet, upgrading of the highly anticipated Ethereum Pectra Pectra, initially scheduled for April 2025, has been delayed.
This decision occurred during the consensus call for developers of all the main Ethereum (ACDC) # 153 on March 20. It reflects the prudent approach to the development team to ensure a fluid and stable upgrade process.
HOODI TESTNET to determine the chronology of Pectra
During the call, the main team of Ethereum examined Pectra’s progress.
Instead of confirming a Mainnet date, they chose to monitor the performance of the upgrade on Hoodi, a new trial designed to assess the stability of Pectra. This is not surprising because the support of the Ethereum protocol, the head of support, Tim Beiko, recently let him hear. He noted the programming of the Pectra upgrade at least 30 days after the success of Hoodi Forks.
“… Pectra will be scheduled for more than 30 days after the success of Hoodi Forks, pending infra and customers tests.
Consequently, the delay is not entirely surprising, reflecting the cautious approach of the developers to ensure a smooth transition.

The main reason for postponing upgrade is the need for in -depth tests. The developers use Hoodi to simulate the conditions of the real world and identify potential problems before activating Pectra on the Mainnet.
The upgrade will be posted on Hoodi on March 26, the developers observing its performance before deciding on the Mainnet version.
Another factor influencing the delay is the expiration of history, a cleaning process planned to be posted on May 1. This change, linked to the proposal to improve the Ethereum 6110 (EIP 6110), affects the management of the history of the validator deposits on Ethereum.
Since Pectra plays a key role in this process, the delay also requires the postponement of the expiration of history. Developers now reconcile the calendar for the implementation of this change.
For the moment, the priority is to ensure a successful pectra test on Hoodi, which is better than the Testnet Sepolia. If the tests are going well, the developers could go ahead to define a launch date of Mainnet. However, they could further prolong the calendar if necessary.
“The update of Pectra de Sepolia struck a snag because a node did not upgrade in time – trivial sounds, but it is a reminder: the decentralization of Ethereum is as strong as its weakest operator. If a forgotten node can delay an upgrade, imagine what is happening when real money is online, “a user has taken a node.
At the same time, discussions on the next major upgrade of Ethereum, Fusaka, are underway. The developers are considering additional improvements for inclusion in future updates. This would guarantee that Ethereum continues to grow and maintain its leadership in the blockchain space.
Although the Pectra delay is temporary, developers point out that in -depth tests are essential to avoid unexpected problems.
The Ethereum community will have to wait a little longer, but the upgrade remains an absolute priority. A final decision on the launch date of the Mainnet is due in the coming weeks.
