BTS’ Jin: Woman Summoned by Police for Alleged Nonconsensual Kiss

SEOUL-South Korean police said on Friday that she summoned a Japanese woman for questioning that Jin, a member of the Supergroup K-Pop BTS, without consent during a free cuddling event last year.

A police officer who answered the phone to the Songpa police station in Seoul said he was asking the woman to present herself to question an allegation of sexual harassment. The police station refused to disclose its identity citing privacy.

The station said it launched an investigation after receiving an online complaint and refused to provide more details because an investigation was underway.

The media said that the South Korean police were able to confirm the identity of the woman with the help of the Japanese police. The reports indicate that the woman, who has about fifty people, refused to appear for an interrogation.

One day after having finished his compulsory military service of 18 months in June 2024, Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-Jin, celebrated his release and the 11-year anniversary of the group by offering free hugs to his fans during an event in Seoul. During the event, which would have attended 1,000 people, a woman suddenly kissed Jin, on her cheek. Video sequences that have become viral have shown that Jin apparently looked uncomfortable.

The woman wrote in an online blog article that “my lips touched her neck. His skin was so soft, ”according to the Yonhap news agency.

BTS was created in 2013 and has a legion of world supporters who call themselves “the army”. Jin, 32, is the oldest member of the group.
