Business Financing and Unlocking Corporate Credit in Africa | Tekedia Mini-MBA

Commercial financing and unlocking company credit in Africa | TEKEDIA Mini-MBA

Access to business financing remains an essential challenge for many companies in Africa. Despite the entrepreneurial spirit of the continent and an increasing SME basin, traditional financing systems often exclude these companies due to strong guarantee requests, limited credit history and fragmented financial markets. This exclusion stifles innovation and scalability, leaving many promising companies underfunded and unable to develop. Informal financing still dominates, but it does not have the structure and sustainability necessary to stimulate long -term growth.

To unlock business credit across Africa, stakeholders must create robust credit infrastructure, deepen financial inclusion and adopt innovative models such as fintech loans, billing factoring, supply chain and credit guarantees. Credit offices and digital identity systems can improve solvency assessments. Public-private partnerships and regulatory reforms must also support more transparent and accessible loan ecosystems. By thinking about credit mechanisms and reducing structural barriers, Africa can catalyze entrepreneurship and industrial growth in its markets.

Tomorrow, in Tekedia Mini -MBA, Abeeb Ogunso, CEO of Evea, a pioneering company credit company in Nigeria, explaining the basic difference between the use of a business credit card and a commercial loan – and how the company financed companies via Credit.
