The founder of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson, unveiled a new vision for a deeper collaboration between Cardano and XRP. The key to this partnership is in midnight, Sidechain focused on the private life of Cardano, which could soon serve as a DEFI engine for XRP.
Unlock Defi without leaving XRPL
Hoskinson explained during a recent AMA that Midnight is designed to allow XRP users to draw from DEFI features such as stale pools, loan and liquidity, without having to move their tokens from the Grand Book XRP. Given that XRP does not support smart contracts, this Sidechain integration could offer the ecosystem a new layer of utility while allowing users to keep their assets in safety.
Midnight uses zero knowledge cryptography to allow confidential intelligent contracts. This means that users can interact with DEFI applications while keeping their private financial data. This is a powerful upgrade that could considerably improve what XRP holders can do with their tokens.
Stablecoins wallets
The collaboration does not stop at midnight. Hoskinson has confirmed that the Cardano lace portfolio will soon take charge of XRP, allowing holders to manage several assets under a single interface. Hoskinson revealed that he had spoken with leaders of Ripple, notably CTO David Schwartz and CEO Brad Garlinghouse, to ensure gentle integration between midnight and the big XRP book. The objective is to integrate the advanced Cardano intelligent contract capacities with the liquidity capacities and robust XRP transfections.
To arouse the interest and activity of users, Cardano launched two air campaigns: the midnight fall and the drop of glacier. XRP holders with at least $ 100 XRP on June 11, 2025 are eligible to claim part of the 1.2 billion night tokens, the governance token for midnight.
