Ethereum Pectra Upgrade Slated for April 2025, Fusaka To Follow

The developers of Ethereum confirmed that the long -awaited Pectra upgrade should be put online on the Ethereum Mainnet around April 8, 2025, after deployments of successful time tests.
In addition, discussions continue on the subsequent upgrade of Fusaka and Glamsterdam, as well as the way in which these could shape the future development of Ethereum.
Ethereum pectra upgrade chronology and key improvements
They established this calendar during the All Core Developers Execution (ACDE) call, which was held on February 13, 2025, and chaired by the Protocol of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), the Lead Tim Beiko. Previous reports suggest that Pecctra could be launched in March 2025.
However, the revised calendar suggests tests and the rigorous coordination necessary for a smooth transition.
The upgrade will introduce major improvements in the validator and network performance. Before that, however, the upgrade will be tested on the Holesky and Sepolia testnets, which should be activated on February 24 and March 5, respectively.
These Testnet deployments are crucial to guarantee stability before Mainnet implementation in April, which explains the delay. Research, citing Parithosh Jayanthi, EF developer operations engineer, said an almost perfect validator participation.
“The operations engineer of the developer EF Parithosh Jayanthi shared an update on the state of Pectra Devnet 6. He said that the Devnet” is doing very well “and that the validator’s participation rate is almost perfect” , said an extract from the report.
This positive progress reinforces confidence in the capacity of the upgrade to improve the conviviality of the network and to open the way to faster Ethereum upgrade cycles. The previous reports assumed a possible fractionation of Pectra in two phases, with an initial deployment scheduled for the beginning of 2025. However, the current plan indicates a unique upgrade launch in April.

The impact of this report on Ethereum’s food token has been silent. According to Beincrypto data, ETH has increased by a modest of 1.17% since the opening of the Friday session. To date, the token was negotiating $ 2,709.
Fusaka upgrade and Future Development of Ethereum
Following the finalization of Pectra, the discussions began on the scope of the next upgrade of Ethereum, Fusaka. According to the statements, Beiko proposed to freeze the scope of Fusaka at the time of online, aimed at maintaining a more predictable upgrade.
However, the GETH team opposed this proposal. They would have argued that the chronology was too aggressive and suggested excluding the EOF component (EVM object format) from Fusaka.
Beiko suggested extending the calendar for the finalization of Fusaka’s scope to respond to these concerns. The extension would allow developers an additional time to determine which proposals for Ethereum improvement (EIP) should be included.
Although the final decision is pending, many developers suggest changes to ensure that Fusaka remains manageable and impactful. Some developers who hold this opinion include Justin Florentine from Besu and Ben Adams from Nethermind.
Meanwhile, these developments are involved in the midst of the leadership resums in the EF which continue to threaten the domination of Ethereum. Beincrypto reported that leadership reshuffles and internal conflicts have made concerns about Ethereum governance and neutrality.
The co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, recently confirmed a restructuring within the Ethereum Foundation to resolve long-standing governance problems. With the launch of April of Pectra confirmed, the objective could move to a fluid deployment, potentially by preparing the way for the next evolution of Ethereum.
