Ethereum researcher pitches solution to fix centralization woes, eliminate MEV

An Ethereum researcher presented a new block proposal solution which aims to democratize the process of building blocks currently centralized by Ethereum by implementing a “shared random algorithm”.

The “decentralized random block proposal” would exploit tolerance to Byzantine defects (BFT) to eliminate maximum extractable value at the block, fully democratizing the block offering and perhaps accelerating the propagation – the process by which transactions are disseminated to network validators – the pseudonym researcher Malik672 said in March 1 after.

Malik672 said that if the evidence of proof of Ethereum and the provider’s separation function has migrated the maximum extractable value concentration to a certain extent, it has made more and more the concentration of value and relay.

The researcher of the Ethereum Foundation, Toni Wahrstätter, recently stressed that two manufacturers of Ethereum – Beaverbuild and Titan Builder – built 88.7% of all Ethereum blocks in the first two weeks of October.

The MEV – The value extracted by block proposers by reorganizing or censorship of transactions – has resulted in a range of profit -oriented manipulation strategies, such as arbitration and the first round, which came to the price of ordinary network users.

“It undermines the decentralized philosophy of Ethereum,” said Malik672.

According to Malik672’s proposal, all Ethereum customers – as opposed to a handful of manufacturers – built blocks via a cryptographically random algorithm. This random selection would prevent manipulation tactics focused on profit with an impact on Ethereum users, said the researcher.

Malik672 said that the solution would align better with Ethereum’s “roots without confidence” while remaining compatible with Danksharding’s Blob requirements – a solution that tries to extend Ethereum layer 2.

Malik672 added that the solution can even reduce the slot to 12 seconds to approximately 6 to 8 seconds.

It then comes that Ethereum developers and researchers have agreed to start deploying Ethereum upgrades to a faster rate on February 13 to accelerate the Ethereum technical roadmap.
