On March 8, 2025, to celebrate International Women’s Day, Gate Charity launched a public health initiative in Cotonou, Benin, Africa, focusing on sexual health education and free screening services. The initiative aims to raise awareness among adolescents and young local adults on sexually transmitted infections (IST) and HIV / AIDS, reduce social stigma and provide free test services to improve early diagnostic rates. Thanks to this effort, Gate Charity has not only improved the health of local women and young people, but also made an important step towards the advancement of gender equality and public health.
Fill the gap in medical knowledge and resources to improve health awareness
Although the global public health campaigns have progressed, the prevention and early detection of STIs and HIV in Africa are still faced with many challenges due to the social attitudes in force, disinformation and limited medical resources. Teenagers, in particular, often do not have access to reliable information, making it one of the most vulnerable groups.
Gate Charity recognizes that sexual health education is not only a question of public health, but also a cornerstone to promote gender equality. This initiative specifically meets the health needs of women and young people by creating an open and inclusive platform for dialogue. Thanks to professional advice and educational awareness, it helps participants establish informed health management practices, strengthen self-protection awareness and fill gaps in the local health training system.
Collaborate with local organizations to provide full health support
Co-organized with the Beny local ABPF organization, this initiative attracted the enthusiastic participation of adolescents and young adults in the community. A dedicated team of local health experts, psychological advisers and health professionals has led interactive lectures and group discussions to explain in detail the transmission routes, preventive measures and treatment options for STIs and HIV, thus dissipating fears and correcting false ideas.
The event also offered free anonymous and volunteer screening services for HIV and STIs, ensuring that personal confidentiality was fully protected. In addition, professional medical staff have provided advice before and post-test and medical advice, providing full support to those who have screening. For people who tested positive, Gate Charity and his partners have undertaken to provide follow -up support and facilitate access to professional medical care.
During the event, participants not only received practical sexual health guides, but also participated in face -to -face consultations with experts to obtain personalized health advice and psychological support. The main objective of this initiative is to improve the health rights of local women and adolescents while increasing the awareness of the society of sexual health problems.
Gate Charity hopes to use the momentum of the International Women’s Day to call on all sectors of society to prioritize equity in health and gender equality. The organization stresses that access to medical resources should be accessible to all those who need it. For the future, Gate Charity undertakes to deepen her support for public well-being in underdeveloped regions and to deploy more health empowerment projects-taking concrete stages to protect the health and future of women and young people from around the world.
