NEW York – NBC News named Tom Llamas on Wednesday to replace Lester Holt as the anchor of “Nightly News” from this summer, but he does not give up his streaming journal.
The elevation of llamas, 45, was widely planned. It was the main substitute of Holt on the summary of the news of the broadcasting since the transition from ABC to NBC in 2021. It is also essentially the main anchor of the NBC News Now streaming service, hosting the “Top Story” program.
Holt said last week that he withdrew from “Nightly News” after a decade. He plans to stay in the network to work in “Datelin NBC”.
“Tom has the winning combination of journalistic excellence, passionate narration and inflexible integrity – all the characteristics that have long been the marks of NBC” Nightly News, “said Janelle Rodriguez, executive vice -president of NBC News programming.

This leaves David Muir of ABC as presenter of the oldest evening of the “World News Tonight”, as well as the rating leader. CBS News earlier this year replaced Norah O’Donnell with the team of John Dickerson and Maurice Dubois.
While the news is an environment very different from the days where Walter Cronkite has been transmitted to millions of houses at dinner time, newspapers from ABC, CBS and NBC collectively reach more than 10 million viewers per night. The anchors are generally considered to be the face of the divisions of news broadcast.
Lamas will be the first to play this role while retaining their work on the streaming service. His “Top Story” newsletters will start every week of the week after the end of “Nightly News”.
