Nigeria Partners Amazon Web Services to Launch Free Cloud and AI Training Across Tertiary Institutions
The Federal Ministry of Education has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide free digital training and certifications to students and educators in Nigeria higher establishments, marking an important stage in the thrust of the federal government to integrate the powers of the 21st century into the country’s education system.
The initiative, which would be part of the Hope Renewed Agenda of the Administration of President Bola Tinubu, will see the participants trained in cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), automatic learning and other modern digital technologies. The ministry has confirmed that certification costs will be fully covered by a joint arrangement between the ministry and the AWS.

More than 40 institutions already on board
The digital skills program has already been launched in 43 federal and polytechnic universities, and the authorities say that the implementation develops quickly.
To bring private and state institutions into the lap, the ministry has published a directive to vice-chancellors, rectors and provosts of all tertiary institutions to appoint program coordinators by Friday July 19, 2025, using a dedicated Google form link.
The appointment form requires basic administrative details, in particular the name and designation of the head of the institution, the contact details of the coordinator appointed and the address of the institution.
“Schools can now record coordinators to launch the training. Do not miss, ”said the ministry in his announcement.
This decision is aligned with the broader digital transformation strategy of Nigeria, in particular by approaching young people unemployment and preparing the next generation for a rapidly evolving global technological economy.
AWS being a world leader in cloud infrastructure, the partnership offers access not only to digital knowledge, but also to overall recognized certifications, giving students and staff a competitive advantage in the labor market.
