OpenAI is building ‘X-like social network’ to rival Elon Musk — Report

The developer of models of large OpenAi language would work on a new network of social media, putting the company on a collision course with the Meta platforms of Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg.

Citing anonymous sources, the rod reported on April 15 that Optaai develops a “type X social network” which combines the tools for generation of chatgpt images and a social flow, probably to allow users to share their images generated by AI with a wider audience.

It is not clear if Openai will reveal a new social media platform or will launch functionalities in Chatgpt, the sources said.

Openai has become one of the most powerful technological companies in the world after the overwhelming success of its Chatgpt models. Its first engine advantage in the AI race allowed it to raise $ 40 billion to an evaluation of $ 300 billion in a funding agreement which was led by SoftBank Group.

Musk and Altman: a complicated story

The rivalry between the two entrepreneurs stems from the marketing efforts of Openai and the alleged abandonment of Altman of the mission of founding the startup as a non -profit organization.

Musk and a group of investors would have filed a buy -in offer of $ 97.4 billion for OpenAI in February, but the proposed agreement was apparently rejected by Altman, who went to social networks to say “no thank you”.

Altman, however, expressed his interest in buying X for $ 9.74 billion, or a tenth of the Openai buyout offer offered. The Curt answer may or may not have been authentic.

Musk responded to the post of Altman by calling him a “crook”.

Musk acquired X, formerly Twitter, in an agreement of $ 44 billion in 2022. The platform remains a home for social media engagement in the cryptocurrency industry.

On March 7, US President Donald Trump used X to present welcoming remarks for the “very first summit of digital assets of the White House” in Washington, DC.
