ow crypto op-eds influence Web3 media, policy and perception
As the cryptographic industry matures and the public perception becomes more critical for adoption and regulations, the elements of opinion, often rejected as hot catches, emerge as powerful tools to shape the web3 story.
In the last episode of Decentralize with CointelegraphWe sit down with three votes of initiates to explore the role of evolution of opinion in Crypto Media: Cath Jenkin, opinion editor at Cointelegraph; Nikki Brown, Director of Melrose PR strategy; and Amal Ibraymi, legal advisor at Aztec Network.
Break down
The discussion highlights the growing strategic value of OPDs in cryptographic media – not only as vehicles for opinion leadership but as instruments of influence.
According to Jenkin, the best opinion pieces are the arguments, “but you don’t really argue with someone, you discuss points and people sometimes get it a little confused.”
“You do not explain the state of industry. You assess a key argument around industry, and the more we apply critical thinking to our sector, the better we build a community. ”
The conversation also plunges into the ethics of opinion publishing. What distinguishes the real informed leadership in strategic public relations? How do publishers oppose credibility, transparency and long-term value in a world full of pump parts and token promotion?
In relation: Crypto has a structural optimism built to resist crises
For Brown, who advises the founders and projects on public positioning, customer education and highlighting the value of enlightened leadership is essential.
“I think that the value is that it is great to hear the facts with regard to the news, but sometimes we need a little help to give meaning to what will be the repercussions or the next steps of the way a regulation will be applied to the real world.”
Opinions have an influence
The episode also explores how opinions can directly influence politics. Ibraymi is thinking about the growing attention that regulators pay in the story of cryptography and how legal voices must help demystify complex problems for the public without simplifying them outside.
“We know that for a fact, many regulators pay attention to these praise, even if some of the directors do not read the buildings, their employees are.”
Ibraymi highlighted the importance of praise in this scenario, because political employees are the people who prepare the service notes and sometimes prepare the first drafts for specific frameworks. “Even a publication does not get much traction at the start,” she said. “I found it extremely useful to have it in your rear pocket.”
Beyond the impact of the industry, the episode offers a reader guide to consume praise in a critical way: how to identify the biases, interpret identification information and engage with divergent points of view in a healthy way.
For the future, guests also weigh on the future of the editorial voice in web3. Will the OP-EDs generated by AI become the norm?
