Pepe NFT Project Mistakenly Hires North Korean Hacker

Several NFT collections supported by the creator of Pepe, Matt Furie, have undergone a massive hack after accidentally hired a North Korean for a computer role. The same group attacked another company, Tavrr, for an amount of total losses.
Fury has teamed up with Chainsaw, an NFT company that apparently hired its pirate for a computer role. Favrr used one for his CTO, showing contempt concerning project security.
The growing threat of North Korean pirates
Pepe, the famous cartoon frog, is a popular subject for the pieces even, but its original creator has nothing to do with them. Visual artist Matt Furie created the character about 20 years ago.
By associating with Chainsaw to launch the collections of NFT, Furie finally tried to capitalize on increasing industry, but a North Korean hacking apparently crushed the project.
Zachxbt, a famous crypto Sleuth, posted a complete overview of the incident. Essentially, an initiate transferred the mint contract for the replicand, one of the NFT collections in Furie, in the middle of the night.
From there, the pirate struck NFTS until the price of the price reaches zero. Five days later, he did it with three other collections, bringing about $ 310,000.
The attackers had to wash their profits, leaving a trace of the blockchain data breaking chain that Zachxbt was able to trace. By studying this, he ended up believing that the North Koreans have perpetrated the hacking.
More specifically, an attacker made a false profile to interview a computer role with the project, a known flight tactic. From there it was trivially easy to get around any safety.
A few days later, another business fell for the same thing. Favrr, a NFT launch platform, lost $ 680,000 against hacking involving the same small group of North Koreans.
This flight was much more shocking for several reasons, including the huge loss. The company hired this false candidate to be his CTO, revealing a shocking lack of reasonable diligence.
This appalling lack of safety is the real problem. Zachxbt recently warned against the increase in North Korean activity, especially since the Lazare group has produced the biggest hack in the history of cryptography.
Cryptographic crime is raised at all levels at the moment, but these companies have taken zero precautions.
Even more overwhelming, Favrr is the only company that has published a public declaration. The chainsaw briefly published a warning, which he deleted later, and Matt Furie was also silent.
The two also disabled their DMS on X. Zachxbt tried to reach out to all the affected parts but could not do so.
