The Ripple vs dry trial again took the front of the stage, this time not in court, but on X (formerly Twitter). Although Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently announced that the case was “behind them”, the legal battle is still not over on paper.
Political ties arouse controversy
What arouses even more chatter is a new series of political allegations around Ripple’s involvement in the 2024 American presidential election. A user on Twitter recently said that Ripple and his main leaders largely supported Vice-President Kamala Harris during the elections, while avoiding the support of Donald Trump.
Donations led to the division within the XRP community. Many users now question Ripple’s political position, especially since the important part of the XRP fans base supports Trump.
Some online items have suggested that the XRP community was perhaps not aware of the magnitude of these political gifts and said that XRP holders should consider going out around the $ 3.50 mark if Bitcoin exceeds $ 125,000.
The former dry lawyer defends the calendar
In the midst of all political back and forth, the former SEC lawyer, Marc Fagel, intervened to correct the record for the origins of the Ripple trial. He reminded users that the DRA file against Ripple had been submitted under the Trump administration, led by the former SEC president, Jay Clayton, not Gary Gensler.
“Basic facts, sorry,” said Fagel on Twitter. “This affair was investigated and deposited before even peopleler is named. Unless he has a time machine, Gensler did not initiate this.”
When he was asked why Clayton had chosen to continue Ripple on his last day in power, Fagel explained that the decision had been taken weeks earlier. Clayton probably voted before leaving to avoid delays that could have blocked the case for months while a new dry president was confirmed. Gensler did not resume the role until almost five months later.
