Russia’s Energy Ministry Launches Crypto Mining Register
The Russian Ministry of Energy has launched a national register of crypto extraction platforms to eliminate minors who dodge tax payments and illegal configurations that steal the power of the network.
The state -managed newspaper RIA Novosti said in a report on Friday that the Russian Ministry of Energy, the Federal Tax Service and the Digital Development Ministry of Russia “compiled a register” and sent it to “regions with an increased activity”.
In June, the head of the Russian Ministry of Finance, Ivan Chebeskov, said that despite the introduction of crypto mine laws, only 30% of minors had entered the federal tax register since 2024.
Russia hopes to tax and regulate cryptographic exploitation
The vice-minister of energy, Petr Konyushenko, said in an interview with Ria Novosti, translated into English by Google, that it was a step towards “the legalization of industry and the reduction of illegal consumption”.
“The creation of such a register will allow the precise identification of consumers using electricity for mining needs. This is necessary to apply special regulations and taxation to them. ”
The Russian Ministry of Energy reported plans for the first time to create a national cryptographic mining platform register and other related materials in February to help enforce Ria Novosti in the regions where it is prohibited, according to Ria Novosti.
Some Russian regions prohibit cryptographic exploitation
The Russian government began to apply a bill linked to Crypto mining in November, with legal definitions and registration requirements for mining companies.
The government has also prohibited the extraction of crypto, both the activity of the operating pool and the mining of individual cryptography, in 10 Russian regions for six years, reported the public news agency TASS on December 24. The ban is in force until March 15, 2031, in the hope of preventing breakdowns.
Meanwhile, on June 9, Forbes Russia reported that the Russian Digital Development Ministry was working on a new bill to increase fines for illegal crypto extraction operations to 2 million Russian rubles ($ 25,500), against 200,000 current rubles ($ 2,534).
