SafeMoon boss cites DOJ’s nixed crypto unit in latest bid to toss suit

Braden John Karony, CEO of the Crypto Safemoon Society, quoted the Directive of the United States Ministry of not continuing accusations of crypto in order to obtain the case against him and his rejected business.

In a letter of April 9 to the Judge of the New York Federal Court, Eric Komitee, the lawyer for Karony, Nicholas Smith, said that the court should consider a service note from the US sub-procureor Todd Blanche which dissolved the cryptographic unit of the Doj.

“The Ministry of Justice is not a regulator of digital assets,” said Blanche in the memo, which added that the DoJ “will no longer pursue disputes or application measures which have the effect of superimposing regulatory frameworks on digital assets.”

Blanche has also ordered prosecutors not to charge violations of the laws on securities and raw materials when the case would require the GM to be determined if a digital asset is security or basic products when accusations such as wire fraud are available.

In the bottom of the letter of the letter, Karony’s lawyer wrote an exemption from the new DoJ directive would be if the parties have an interest in defending that an cryptographic asset is security, but added that “Karony does not have such an interest.”

The Ministry of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission have filed simultaneous accusations of violations of titles, wire fraud and money laundering against Karony and other SAFEMOON leaders in November 2023.

The government alleged that Karony, the creator of Safemoon Kyle Nagy and the director of technology Thomas Smith withdrawn assets worth 200 million dollars from the project and the diverted investor funds.

Another attempt to nix the case

The letter is Karony’s last attempt to withdraw the case. In February, he asked that his trial, which was to start on March 31, be delayed because he argued that crypto policies proposed by President Donald Trump could potentially affect the case.

Later in February, Smith changed his plea as a guilty and said that he had participated in the alleged 200 million dollars cryptography program. Nagy is free and would be in Russia.

Safemoon has filed for bankruptcy in December 2023, a month after being struck by twin cases of the dry and doj. He was also hacked in March 2023, the pirate agreeing to return 80% of funds.
