Telegram ‘exceeded’ its legal obligations

The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, said that the company had always encountered and “exceeded” its legal obligations in matters of moderation, cooperation and the fight against crime.

On March 17, the founder of the Telegram published an update on the request for messaging, saying that he was already back in Dubai after spending months in France. Durov said the process was still underway, but added that it “felt likely to be at home”.

The message follows the reports according to which the founder of the Telegram was authorized to leave France and return home. On March 15, a report citing anonymous sources said that the executive had left France after obtaining the approval of a French court to leave the country.

Durov was arrested in Paris on August 24 as part of an investigation into the instant messaging application. The executive was accused of having managed a platform that allowed illegal activities.

In his post, Durov thanked the judges for allowing him to return to Dubai. The executive also expressed his gratitude to his lawyers and his team, saying that they could show that the company had exceeded what was legally required of them. He wrote:

“I would like to thank the judges of investigation for having allowed this to happen, as well as my lawyers and my team for their incessant efforts to demonstrate that, with regard to moderation, cooperation and the fight against crime, for years, the telegram has not only encountered but exceeded its legal obligations.”

Durov also thanked his supporters around the world. He said he was grateful to the community’s support throughout the event. “There is nothing that our community of billions of dollars cannot overcome,” added Durov.

Return of the founder of Telegram to Dubai Fuels Toncoin Rally

Durov’s release has fueled a rally for Toncoin, the native cryptographic asset of the open network (tone), a project strongly associated with the telegram. On March 15, Toncoin went from $ 2.93 to $ 3.46, reaching a maximum of seven days of $ 3.59 on March 17.

Your Society, a basic movement supporting the Ton blockchain, celebrated the release of Durov. The group said they had supported themselves behind the executive since its arrest, praising “the commitment of the founder of the Telegram towards freedom of expression and transparency”.

The group had previously written an open letter to the French authorities, urging them to release the founder of the Telegram.
