The Dangote Group’s N402 Billion Tax And Why Nations Need Big Firms

Group Dangote: the main tax contributor of Nigeria with more than 402 billion nairas paid in 2024

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), the most rich man in Africa, Aliko Dangote, once again said his domination as the highest taxpayer in Nigeria. The company revealed that it had paid an N402,319 billion N402.319 billion taxes in 2024, highlighting its significant contribution to the country’s budgetary health.

Anthony Chiejina, brand and communication manager Dangote Group shared this information during an interactive session with senior media executives in his office in Lagos. He pointed out that Dil, alongside his subsidiaries such as Dangote Cement, Nascon and Dangote Packaging Limited, collectively handed over taxes to the Federal Inland Rété Service (FIRS).

Earlier in 2024, the FIRS, the tax authority of Nigeria Apex, recognized Dil and its subsidiary, Bluestar Shipping, as the organization most in accordance with the country’s taxes. Recognition was granted during the special FIRS day at the Lagos 2024 International Show, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lagos (LCCI).

The FIRs, responsible for the evaluation, collection and taking into account federal tax revenues, congratulated the membership of the Dangote group to tax regulations. This recognition is aligned with the reputation of the conglomerate for tax discipline and transparency
