Basically, in this attack, pirates had used a false Google Docs invitation to users. These are in fact the invitations to open a document which was once shared with them by trust. Therefore, users generally open the document without any hesitation and become victims.
The scary part of this scam was that these emails were designed in a way that looked precisely with standard Gmail invitations and was sent from authentic sources. Once clicked, these emails were used to redirect users to a false connection page, and as soon as users have entered their identification information, they unconsciously provided attackers access to their Gmail accounts. These attacks are at the top of the list of sophisticated attacks because they have exploited the reliable nature of Google and user data.
It did not end there; These attackers went further with these diagram techniques. They used third-party software to imitate Google Docs Access personal data from Google accounts and send other phishing emails to these users, trying to get more information from their end. This attack was widespread and personal and professional accounts were hacked.
Fortunately, Google responded immediately and deleted the malicious application to secure the accounts. For more security, Google has introduced two -factor authentication for users after this attack.
