Crypto czar Sacks says US could possibly ‘acquire more Bitcoin’
The AI of the White House and the Crypto Tsar David Sacks claims that the United States could buy more bitcoin if the government can finance the purchase in a “neutral” manner without a tax or add to the increasing national debt.
Sacks told the co-founders of Gemini Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss during a conversation by the fire of May 27 at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that even if it “can not promise anything”, one path exists so that the government buys more Bitcoin (BTC).
However, the secretary of convincing commerce shows Howard Lunick or Treasury Secretary Scott Besson has properly purchased and financed it “without a new tax or add to the debt,” said Sacks, adding that “perhaps by finding money from another program that does not use it – so we could potentially acquire more bitcoin”.
“The question is whether we can make sure that the Treasury Department or the Commerce Department is passionate about this, because if they do it and they can understand how to finance it, they have in fact a presidential authorization,” said Sacks.
We can buy bitcoin if it does not hug the budget
The executive decree of March 6 authorizing the creation of a crypto reserve declares that it will hold any confiscated bitcoin within the framework of the confiscation of criminal or civil assets.
Sacks noted part of the executive decree “allows the government to buy more” if this is “done in a non -budgetary manner”.
“More specifically, if the trade service or the treasure service can determine how to finance it without adding to the debt, they are allowed to create these programs,” he said.
