Will Bitcoin Price Drop to Zero If Quantum Breakthrough Happens Tomorrow?

The recent breakthroughs in quantum computers have made an alarm for Bitcoin investors, which has raised fears of a potential collapse of the market. But does a quantum calculation jump really send the price of bitcoin to zero?

In mid-2025, the realistic calendar closest to a threat remains 2030-2035. At that time, we could see a wave of specialized machines, cloud services and new layers of operational software. However, you will not see more quantum desktop machines that you do not see conventional superordinators in your living room.

The quantum threat to bitcoin is real – but exaggerated

Quantum IT has increased considerably by June 2025. The new willow processor of 105 QUBIT from Google and the Microsoft 1 of Microsoft 1 chip show significant progress towards stable quantum computers.

However, despite these jumps, quantum computers capable of breaking the cryptography of Bitcoin remain in years.

Experts estimate that quantum systems must reach around 1,500 to 3,000 stable qubits corrected by mistake to build a direct threat to Bitcoin safety.

Now, quantum computers work differently from the classic computers today. They are not only faster but can solve certain complex problems – such as cryptographic puzzles – almost instantly.

On the other hand, Bitcoin, like most cryptocurrencies, is strongly based on cryptography to secure transactions and wallets.

So, if a quantum breakthrough suddenly occurred, Bitcoin addresses using older encryption methods would be instantly vulnerable. This also includes the sleeping wallet of Satoshi Nakamoto with nearly 1.1 million BTC.

About 25% of all Bitcoins live in reused addresses. This would leave billions of dollars potentially exposed.

In the short term, this scenario would trigger the sale of panic. Extreme panic could even see the price of Bitcoin fall up to 30% to 50% in a few days.

However, this would not necessarily mean that Bitcoin strikes zero. The developers would probably react quickly by upgrading the network according to cryptographic standards resistant to the quantities.

This emergency response could involve migration to more recent and secure addresses and the implementation of quantum security encryption methods.

Decentralization is the key shield

The transition to quantum resistant technology is not easy. It requires substantial coordination between minors, exchanges and portfolio providers.

However, the decentralized nature of Bitcoin gives it flexibility, allowing the community to quickly deploy the necessary updates.

The longer term recovery depends on the agility of the cryptographic community. If it is successfully upgraded, the value of Bitcoin could stabilize and recover initial shocks, preserving the confidence of investors.

Thus, quantum computer threats, although real, are not immediate.

More importantly, experts project a realistic calendar of quantum threats around 2030-2035. It gives the cryptographic community crucial to plan and implement protective measures.

In short, although a breakthrough of quantum computers tomorrow temporarily disrupts the Bitcoin market, it is unlikely that it completely will destroy its value.
