Binance exec shares details about his release from Nigerian detention

Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance leader who was detained in Nigeria for eight months in 2024 faced with accusations of money and money laundering, provided additional details on his experience and what led to his release.

Speaking at the top of DC blockchain on March 26, Gambaryan, chief of compliance with financial crime in Binance, said that the Nigerian government had held him hostage, suggesting that criminal charges were a pretext for “getting something” from Binance. According to the Binance Executive, he saw panels suggesting that he could be released “about a month” before his return to the United States.

“It was at the time of [United Nations] The general assembly in 2024 occurred, it was when this pressure really strengthened against the Nigerian government, and he realized that I was more responsibility, “said Gambaryan.” Before that, they saw me a little as an asset they could use to remove their billions of binances. “”

Since his transfer to the American authorities in October, Gambaryan has made few public declarations concerning his detention and his release. The Binance executive family and Nigeria’s reports suggested that his health deteriorated after being initially placed in detention in February, in particular cases of pneumonia, malaria and a hernié disc.

This is a history in development, and additional information will be added as it will be available.
